Strike Kickboxing & Self-Defence — Effective from 2024
1. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS
By accessing or using the Strike Kickboxing & Self-Defence training platform, submitting a grading video, or following any training materials provided through this service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions in full. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must not use this platform.
2. ASSUMPTION OF RISK
Kickboxing, martial arts, and self-defence training are physical activities that carry an inherent risk of injury, including but not limited to sprains, strains, fractures, bruising, and in rare cases, more serious injury or death.
By using this platform and engaging in any training activities described herein, you voluntarily assume all risks associated with such activities. You acknowledge that:
- •You are physically capable of undertaking the training described.
- •You have consulted with a qualified medical professional if you have any pre-existing medical conditions, injuries, or health concerns.
- •You understand the physical demands of the training and accept personal responsibility for your participation.
- •You will not train if you are unwell, injured, or otherwise unfit to do so safely.
3. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
Strike Kickboxing & Self-Defence, its instructors, administrators, and affiliated personnel accept no responsibility or liability whatsoever for any injury, loss, damage, or harm arising from:
- •Following any training techniques, drills, or exercises described on this platform.
- •Grading submissions or any associated physical preparation.
- •Self-defence techniques practised outside of a supervised training environment.
- •Failure to follow safety guidelines or warm-up and cooldown protocols.
- •Training alone without a qualified instructor or training partner present.
- •Use or misuse of any self-defence techniques in real-world situations.
This limitation of liability applies to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.
4. STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES — TRAINING ENVIRONMENT
You are solely responsible for ensuring that your training environment is safe and appropriate. Before commencing any training session, you must ensure:
- •You have sufficient space to perform all techniques without risk of collision with walls, furniture, or other people.
- •The floor surface is non-slip and free from hazards, debris, or trip risks.
- •The ceiling height is adequate for kicking and jumping techniques.
- •The training area is well-lit and adequately ventilated.
- •Other people and animals are clear of the training area.
- •Any equipment used (bags, pads, boards) is in good condition and properly secured.
5. STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES — PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
You are responsible for using appropriate protective equipment for the nature of your training. Recommended equipment includes:

- •Shin guards — for sparring and heavy bag work involving kicks.
- •Mouthguard — mandatory for all contact sparring.
- •Headguard — strongly recommended for all sparring.
- •Groin guard (where applicable) — for contact training.
- •Appropriate footwear or bare feet on a suitable surface — never train in socks on a slippery floor.
Strike Kickboxing & Self-Defence accepts no liability for injuries sustained as a result of training without appropriate protective equipment.
6. SELF-DEFENCE — LEGAL RESPONSIBILITY
The self-defence techniques taught through this platform are for educational purposes only. You are solely responsible for understanding and complying with the laws governing the use of force in your jurisdiction.
In England and Wales, the use of force in self-defence is governed by Section 3 of the Criminal Law Act 1967 and Common Law. Force must be reasonable, necessary, and proportionate to the threat faced. Excessive force constitutes a criminal offence.
Strike Kickboxing & Self-Defence accepts no liability for the misuse of any self-defence techniques taught on this platform, or for any legal consequences arising from their use in real-world situations.
7. SUPERVISED TRAINING RECOMMENDATION
While this platform provides structured training materials for self-guided study, we strongly recommend that all students train under the supervision of a qualified instructor wherever possible. Some techniques — including throwing, choking, and knife defence — should only ever be practised in a controlled environment with qualified supervision and appropriate safety protocols in place.
8. GRADING SUBMISSIONS
By submitting a grading video, you confirm that:
- •The video is of your own performance and has not been falsified or altered.
- •You have trained adequately and feel physically prepared to perform the required techniques safely.
- •Grading fees are non-refundable once a submission has been assessed.
- •The decision of the assessing instructor is final.
You also acknowledge and accept the following:
- •All grading videos will be reviewed by an assessor of at least Black Belt standard.
- •Upon passing a grading, a Strike Kickboxing & Self-Defence club certificate will be issued as recognition of your achievement.
- •Club certificates are a representation of your personal progress and technical development within the Strike Kickboxing & Self-Defence curriculum.
- •At this time, Strike Kickboxing & Self-Defence club certificates are not affiliated with or recognised by any national governing body.
